As Managing Director and Chief Medical Officer of Propel Health Medical Affairs, Cira Montreys, PhD, is responsible for the scientific integrity, clinical relevance, and strategic impact of all programs developed by the company. To this role, Dr. Montreys brings more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare arena, including diverse clinical and research activities as a neuropsychologist, an impressive background in healthcare administration, as well as significant achievements in Pharma-sponsored medical education. Honored as a “Rising Star” by the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA), Dr. Montreys has prioritized collaborative and outcome-driven client relationships, delivered extremely well-received medical communications content, and forged strong and productive alliances with key opinion leaders, including those representing the patient community. As a leader in the start-up of new medical communications entities, business development has been a major responsibility, with a focus on introducing new, differentiated, and market-responsive medical communications offerings to an expanding audience.
In preparation for her doctoral degree in neuroscience/psychopharmacology at the International University for Graduate Studies, Dr. Montreys was a doctoral research assistant in neurology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Previously, she had received two fellowships, one in rehabilitation medicine from Mount Sinai Medical Center and the other in infant development from the Institute for Basic Research in Developmental Disabilities. Concurrent with her studies, Dr. Montreys had ample clinical experience working as a behavioral psychologist with both pediatric and adult patients. Before receiving her doctorate, Dr. Montreys also spent almost 10 years in clinical practice, during which she established and oversaw a variety of innovative programs for individuals with special developmental, medical, and/or psychiatric needs.
Dr. Montreys’ expertise in medical communications includes market appraisals and scientific strategy development, clinical and educational needs analyses, and thought leader identification and profiling. Further, she has an extensive background in directing and creating content for live/virtual/hybrid events (e.g., national and regional symposia, Web conferences, advisory boards, speaker training, and curriculum development meetings), enduring materials (e.g., home-study textbooks, monographs, newsletters, Web sites, and interactive virtual program content), and in support of publication strategies (literature benchmarking reports and gap analyses, scientific communication platforms, publication plans, and preparation of scientific abstracts, posters, and journal articles). Additional areas of expertise include approaches and content development for both patient and payor audiences, and she is a seasoned speaker and meeting moderator.
