About me
Michael is a corporate communications leader with more than two decades of in-house and agency experience in the biopharmaceutical and medical device industries. He has a proven track record in leading integrated communications plans and media engagement strategies that drive measurable impact, as well as in coaching and advising C-level decision makers.
Currently, he serves as director of Global Media Relations at Merck, where he is responsible for developing and executing the company’s global media strategy, as well as leading financial communications. During his five years at Merck, Michael also oversaw day-to-day communications for the $10B+ U.S. Oncology business unit, supporting its period of transformative growth. In addition, he led executive communications and thought leadership for the Human Health division, driving employee messages across 75+ markets.
Prior to Merck, Michael served as director of Public Relations & Communications for $7B global medical device leader Olympus’s endoscopy, surgical and corporate divisions. There he led corporate communications, corporate citizenship, and external and internal communications across North and South America. During his four years at Olympus, Michael generated the largest increase in positive earned media in company history.
Earlier in his career, Michael worked at boutique marketing communications agency Zer0 to 5ive, where he led integrated communications for many startups and leading brands, including the industry’s first rapid HIV and hepatitis C tests.
Michael has been recognized multiple times by PRWeek Magazine and was also named to the region’s “Top 40 Under 40.” He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics & Business from Lafayette College and an MBA from the University of Delaware. He currently lives in Blue Bell, Pa., with his wife and their two sons, ages 3 and 4. When he isn’t helping companies communicate, you can find him taking family vacations, jumping the waves with his boys and teaching them T-ball.
